15 attractive tourist spots in Cuc Phuong National Park
1. Cuc Phuong Botanical Garden:
is an area built to collect and plant rare species of Cuc Phuong, Vietnam and the world. This is one of the three world-class botanical gardens according to the list published in 1997.The route to visit the garden is easy, with a walking distance of 3 km.
2. Cuc Phuong Visitor Center:
was built by AusAid and FFI sponsored and this is also the first visitor education center established in Indochina. This is a place to visit and also a place to do necessary procedures before entering the forest.
3. Center for Rescue:
Conservation and Development of Creatures: Rescue, conservation and development of rare and endangered wildlife species in Vietnam; studying behavior, physiology and reproduction in captivity of rare and precious wild animals for conservation and development; collect, plant and conserve genetic resources and breed rare and precious plant species of Vietnam.
4. Cuc Phuong Primate Rescue Center:
It has the task of rescuing each individual rare primate species (White Butt Douc langur, Ha Tinh langur, jet-black langur, Lao langur, Cat Ba langur, gray-shanked douc langur …) from confiscation arrest; release animals back into the wild; Research on primates such as foraging, living behavior, environment, living space.
5. Cuc Phuong Museum:
is located within the grounds of Cuc Phuong National Park. The museum has been newly built to serve the storage and preservation of samples such as insects, butterflies, hair clippers, dragonflies, cicadas, stick bugs, birds, other animals such as bears, leopards, monkeys, langurs ,... Cuc Phuong Museum is storing more than 50 archaeological samples, including positive specimens of Slab-tooth Reptiles dating from 230 to 250 million years ago. Cuc Phuong Museum currently keeps 122 soaked samples, 82 animal samples, 2900 insect samples of all kinds, more than 12,000 plant specimens.
6. Nguoi Xua Cave:
is a residence and burial relic of prehistoric people, a unique cultural site in the history of human development and a valuable heritage located in the protected area of Cuc Phuong forest.
7. Con Moong cave:
Located near rivers and streams, the area has rich and diverse fauna and flora, so it was chosen by ancient people as a long-term residence. The cave is wide and long, with 2 connecting doors. Con Moong Cave has a rather thick cultural stratigraphy, a very complex structure, with successive interweaving of clay, mollusk shells and streaks of coal ash.
8. Mang Chieng Cave:
is a burial relic of Neolithic residents with a stone tool complex close to Hoa Binh culture, containing many artifacts, animal remains, and human remains.
9.The ancient tree:
is a 45m tall tree, up to 5m in diameter and has roots floating on the ground running about 20m long. From the gate of the garden we go through Nguoi Xua cave about 2 km, on the left side is the path to the ancient light tree 3 km long. Overcome 5 rocky slopes, with many plant biomes. It is a tree with seven leaves and one flower (the most flowery genus of flowers); are woody vines 20–30 cm in diameter and about 100 m long, found only in Cuc Phuong. On the way to the tree, you can observe precious birds such as red-bellied squirrel, red-headed woodpecker, white pheasant or animals such as squirrel, black squirrel, red-bellied squirrel, white-butted langur...
10.Thousand-year-old-parashorea chinensis tree:
is a great tree 45m high, 5m in diameter and has a circumference of more than 20 people to hug. From the center follow a trail in the old forest to reach the tree. Visitors will meet on a giant vine with a root diameter of 0.5m, running for 1 km across the forest, and strangling species. The seeds germinate in other tree holes. When their roots are attached to the soil, they grow very quickly, gradually squeezing the host plant. Visitors can also admire the Cho trees that are only up to 70m high, with straight and round bodies. It takes almost 3 hours to go to and back for this route.
11. The ancient dracontomelon duperreanum tree:
is a 45m tall tree, the root system is divided from the trunk at a height of about 10m and then grows up to 20m long. On the way to the, visitors can also admire the woody vines; strangled species; epiphytic species such as mistletoe, kite's nest, orchid; birds such as red-headed woodpeckers, striped-bellied tails...
12. Visit Muong village:
From the center, through the old forest, valley, over the steep pass with a length of about 16 km, visitors will come to Muong village (Khanh village in An Nghia commune, Lac Son district, Hoa Binh province). Ban Khanh is located on the left bank of the Buoi River with stilt houses, terraced fields... The road to Muong village is long and has to go through many steep slopes with a time of 6-8 hours, this route must have a guide of the garden.
13. Come to Silver cloud peak:
is the highest mountain in Cuc Phuong forest with an altitude of 648m. From the Center, go about 3 km through many old forests with many rocky slopes. Up to the top of the mountain, between the clouds and the sky, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the forest and plains of 4 districts in 3 provinces of Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh and Thanh Hoa. The route to Silver Cloud Peak is long and rocky. This route must be accompanied by a guide of the Garden. Return time is about 4 hours.
14. Trekking to Yen Quang Lake:
The lake has a small island, on which there is an ancient temple. The lake's water surface is the convergence of many species of water birds. The lake surface reflects the silhouettes of mountains and forests.
15. Pho Ma Cave:
The walking path to visit Pho Ma cave from Yen Quang Lake is about 2 km long.
Currently, Ninh Binh province continues to complete the procedure for UNESCO to recognize Cuc Phuong forest as a world natural heritage.
